James Clarkston is a self
taught musician/composer who makes a living completely from playing the
guitar. From the West Texas town of El Paso his sound is a modern
interpretation of Flamenco, Native-American, Mexican, Middle-Eastern and
Classical Guitar. Originally inspired to pick up the guitar by
the rock group "KISS". James credits the late Randy
Rhoads for introducing him to Classical Guitar. Some of James other
influences include Ottmar Liebert, Andres Segovia, Carlos Montoya, and the Gipsy Kings for inspiration.
James performs solo classical guitar pieces by composers such as Bach,
Mozart, Beethoven, Sor, Tarrerga, Carulli, Carcassi, Dowland, and many
more.

Laker Irvin "Magic" Johnson at the Abraham Chavez Theatre in 1999. James
also performed pre-show music for the VIP delegation at the Harry
Connick Jr. concert in 1999.
In addition to his own
compositions, James also performs Beatles classics with as much
attention to detail as a Bach sonata. Rolling Stones, Country, Mexican
songs, Italian songs, Patriotic American songs, Modern Pop/Rock, and
Middle-Eastern Music are among the styles which James can adapt to a
solo-classical guitar style without leaving any part out.
