James Clarkston is a self taught musician/composer who makes a living completely from playing the guitar. From the West Texas town of El Paso his sound is a modern interpretation of Flamenco, Native-American, Mexican, Middle-Eastern and Classical Guitar. Originally inspired to pick up the guitar by the rock group "KISS".  James credits the late Randy Rhoads for introducing him to Classical Guitar. Some of James other influences include  Ottmar Liebert, Andres Segovia, Carlos Montoya, and the Gipsy Kings for inspiration. James performs solo classical guitar pieces by composers such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Sor, Tarrerga, Carulli, Carcassi, Dowland, and many more.

Some of the 5000 people who own James Clarkston self-produced cd's include President George Bush Sr., First Lady Barbara Bush, and President Bill Clinton, Actor Edward James Olmos and Tejano Legend Flaco Jimenez. Some of the celebrities that James has performed for include; General Tommy Franks, Supreme Commander Of  U.S. Central Command. In Feb 2004 at the El Paso Convention Center.   George and Barbara Bush at the 2003 El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce VIP reception. Academy Award Winner Cliff Robertson at the 2002 Border Film Festival. Former Laker Irvin "Magic" Johnson at the Abraham Chavez Theatre in 1999. James also performed pre-show music for the VIP delegation at the Harry Connick Jr. concert in 1999.

In addition to his own compositions, James also performs Beatles classics with as much attention to detail as a Bach sonata. Rolling Stones, Country, Mexican songs, Italian songs, Patriotic American songs, Modern Pop/Rock, and Middle-Eastern Music are among the styles which James can adapt to a solo-classical guitar style without leaving any part out.

James Clarkston is a professional Musician who appears for all venues across the US including concerts, festival, recitals, grand openings, restaurants, etc.. When not on the road James performs for parties, weddings, receptions, anniversaries, and birthdays.

Radio air-play of James Clarkston's music on KXCR 89.5 FM, KTEP 88.5FM and live performances on Sunny 99.9 FM and KSII 93.1 FM underscore his popularity. Appearances on every local TV news show in addition to commercials for companies and political candidates offer further proof of James Clarkston's talent.
