Guitar Lessons

James teaches in a 1 on 1 informal Private lesson. Beginners learn all the basics. Students are encouraged to bring cd's/tapes of songs they enjoy. Students are taught how to play their favorite songs while learning every lesson that each song has to offer. Reading Music, Theory, Chords, Composition, Technique, and Improvising are offered to intermediate/advanced students. James conducts regular group classes on selected Saturdays. Students of James Clarkston participate in an annual recital that showcases what they have learned.

In the business that James co-owns and operates with his wife, Artist Mel Clarkston. All lessons and classes take place at Clarkston Art, Guitar & Gifts. Mel's original acrylic paintings are sold in the gallery room. Custom cigar box purses, jewelry, and over 150 types of retro candy are sold. Some of the classes offered include the following

Acrylic Painting - with Mel Clarkston $25.00 includes all materials ages 7-Adult. One Hour Lesson By Appointment.

Kids Art Class - Every Saturday from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Group acrylic painting class for ages 7-14 years. $17.00 per session includes all materials. Students take home a 11x14 canvas painting that they did. Taught by Mel Clarkston.

Adults Painting Class - Every Tuesday Pick at time. Morning 9:30 - 11:30am. Or Afternoon 2-4 pm. $15.00 per session *does not include materials* Paid for on a monthly basis ( &60.00 per month).

Bass Guitar - with James Clarkston Basic-Advanced $15.00 per session. ($60.00)per month

Guitar - with James Clarkston $15.00 per session paid for on a monthly basis ($60.00) per month.

Harmonica - with James Clarkston , learn the notes and jam with James $15.00 per session. ($60.00) per month.

Ukulele - Play like the Hawaiians with James Clarkston $15.00 per session. ($52.00)per month

*If you don't have time for a guitar lesson and want to learn a specific song bring the cd/tape and James will listen to it and transcribe it in tab form. Write the lyrics on a sheet of paper and James will write in he chords above the corresponding words. Only $13.00 per song. Allow 24 hrs. turnaround.
